5. Are there any fees for the E-DV application?
There is no fee for submitting an electronic entry. Many companies, internet cafes and other
organizations will ask for money from applicants in order to fill out an application for the
Diversity Visa lottery. For the purposes of the Diversity Visa lottery, the U.S. Embassy is not
affiliated with, and does not work with, ANY outside organizations. Please remember that these
types of organizations do not provide any greater chance of winning the lottery than simply
entering yourself. We recommend applicants carefully consider whether they should pay for
help submitting their E-DV applications, and remember that they are responsible for any
information submitted on their behalf. Please remember: there is no fee to enter the Diversity
Visa lottery and any fees associated with your entry are payments for help with your
submission.

program in their program year. The instructions are explicit about what information must be
submitted and how. An applicant’s entry may be disqualified if those requirements are not met

information on their E-DV applications. If applicants failed to follow the instructions in any part
of their application, their entries may be disqualified.

entry did not follow the rules of the Diversity Visa program. The website accepted my
application and I was scheduled for an interview, doesn’t that mean that I should be issued a
visa?
No. Being selected to apply for a Diversity Visa at an Embassy or Consulate does not mean that

disqualified. Failure to enter the correct photograph of each individual into the E-DV system may
result in disqualification of the principal applicant and refusal of all visas associated with the
case at the time of the visa interview. Entries are subject to disqualification and visa refusal for
cases in which the photographs are not recent, show manipulation in any way, or fail to meet
the program specifications.
